A short drive from the Canadian border, Eastport Maine has become a haven for artists, nature lovers, a thriving fishing community, the Passamaquoddy tribe and rugged individualists. Downtown Eastport hosts charming restaurants, art galleries, boutique shops, and locally made crafts. There are opportunities to try fishing permaculture, Passamaquoddy basket weaving, boatbuilding, woodworking skills, art or gardening. You can go clam digging, blueberry picking, canoeing, ride a bike around the island, visit the Roosevelt Campobello International Park and more. Adventure awaits!

A little slice of heaven on earth nestled between the Cobscook & Passamaquoddy Bays. Explore the 80+ acres of fields and trails, and the first sunrise in the USA . Rossport has a mile and a half of shoreline.  Rossport is also a farm – fresh eggs daily, pigs, belted galloway (Oreo) cows roam in their field plus an organic garden is growing fresh veggies, herbs & flowers.  So whether your interest is high tides ( 28' twice a day) or hay fields ( for the cows), or both, you will find them at Rossport.

COST

The 2-week retreats costs $3000 which includes housing, community meals, fun group activities, unique art projects and community service options.

 

As a group, participants fly with retreat staff round trip from San Jose, CA to Bangor, ME. Shuttle provided from Bangor airport to Rossport Farms.

Airfare to and from Maine is NOT included in the tuition. 

COMMUNITY SERVICE 

High schools often require 15-20 hours of community service. Participation in the retreat fulfills community service requirements. Possible volunteer service opportunities may include...
- working with the Passamaqoddy Tribe
- supporting local craftsman
- helping with environmental cleanup projects or other community needs. 
Bonus: Community service and the collaborative book project are ideal for college applications and essays.

WHAT TO BRING

Because Eastport Maine is on the international border, if you want to explore Canada you will need to bring a valid passport.
